Loomkind ("we") runs loomkind.ca. This page explains what we collect, why, and how long we keep it. Questions: team@loomkind.ca.
The Online Gap Checker
When you run a check, we receive:
- What you type: the business name, city and website address you enter.
- Public business information we look up: when Google lookups are on, we ask Google's Places API for the matching business's public listing (name, address, website, rating, review count, opening hours, Google Maps link and operating status). As you type a business name, the text is sent to Google to suggest matching businesses.
- Public website checks: our server loads the business's public homepage once to check HTTPS, the mobile viewport tag and rough load time, and to look for booking tools, chat tools and links to Instagram, TikTok and Facebook.
- Abuse protection: to limit checks per visitor, we keep a one-way hash of your IP address with a counter for about an hour. We don't store your IP address itself. We may use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from bots.
Check results are cached for 7 days so repeat checks are fast and don't trigger extra Google lookups, then deleted automatically. The checker doesn't ask for your name, email or phone, and the site sets no cookies and uses no analytics or advertising trackers.
The free preview form
If you request a preview, we store what you submit (name, email, optional phone, business name, city, website and message), a summary of your latest check score, the time, and a hashed IP address for spam prevention. We use it only to prepare your preview and contact you about it. We don't sell or rent your information. Ask us to delete it any time at team@loomkind.ca; otherwise we delete inactive requests within 24 months.
Who processes data for us
- Cloudflare hosts the site, runs the checker and stores data (Cloudflare Pages, Workers KV and D1).
- Google provides business lookups through the Places API (Google Privacy Policy) and our business email.
These providers may process data outside Canada, including in the United States.
Your rights
Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) you can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or withdraw consent to be contacted. Email team@loomkind.ca and we'll respond within 30 days.
Security
The site is served only over HTTPS with strict security headers. API keys stay on our servers and are never sent to your browser. Access to stored requests is limited to Loomkind.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date above.
